Microsoft Security Updates Focus on AI Agents, Claude Visibility, and Data Risk

Microsoft has published What’s new in Microsoft Security: May 2026, with updates aimed at securing AI usage, identities, data, and agent execution.

The update includes Microsoft Purview visibility for Anthropic Claude Enterprise activity, a generally available Purview Data Security Posture Management experience, deeper investigations with OCR and custom examinations, Entra ID Account recovery, and Windows 365 for Agents in public preview.

Why It Matters

AI adoption creates new places where sensitive data can move. Security and compliance teams need visibility into approved and third-party AI tools, not just traditional cloud apps.

For businesses using Microsoft 365, the most useful step is to understand which AI tools are in use, where logs are available, how sensitive data is classified, and which controls can alert before information leaves the organisation.
