Ubiquiti has introduced the Dream Machine Beast, describing it as a new class of UniFi gateway for demanding network and security workloads.
The announcement highlights higher-performance compute, advanced threat protection, strong routing and VPN capacity, Shadow Mode redundancy with VRRP, and the usual UniFi model of centralised management without separate gateway licensing.
Why It Matters
As businesses put more traffic through cloud apps, VPNs, cameras, guest networks, and security inspection, gateway capacity becomes a design decision rather than a simple purchase. A larger UniFi gateway may suit sites that have outgrown entry-level equipment but still want a single UniFi control plane.
Before choosing any gateway, the sizing should account for internet speed, IDS or IPS expectations, VPN use, VLANs, camera traffic, uptime needs, and whether redundancy is genuinely required.
