UniFi EAV Switching Targets Professional Audio and Video Networks

Ubiquiti's EAV Switching announcement brings deterministic timing, PTP support, AV-over-IP compatibility, and UniFi visibility to audio and video deployments.

UniFi EAV Switching Targets Professional Audio and Video Networks

Ubiquiti has announced UniFi EAV Switching, aimed at professional audio and video environments where timing, latency, and synchronisation matter as much as raw throughput.

The announcement highlights Precision Time Protocol support, sub-microsecond synchronisation, latency visibility in UniFi Network, compatibility with standards such as SMPTE ST 2110, Dante, AES67, and SDVoE, plus the UniFi EAV Bridge for HDMI and AES67 workflows.

Why It Matters

AV-over-IP projects can fail when they are treated like ordinary office networking. Timing, multicast behaviour, switch selection, cabling, uplinks, and monitoring all matter.

For venues, halls, churches, education spaces, conference rooms, and larger AV deployments, this points to UniFi moving deeper into the professional AV network market. Design validation is still essential before committing to a full AV-over-IP rollout.
